Calling all adventurous foodies and chocoholics alike! This Mexican Chocolate Avocado Mousse recipe is a unique and decadent dessert that will tantalize your taste buds and impress your guests. It's the perfect fusion of rich Mexican chocolate and creamy avocado, creating a smooth, flavorful experience unlike any other.
Ready to impress with this show-stopping dessert? Here's what you'll need:
Ingredients:
2 ripe avocados, peeled and pitted
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/4 cup honey or maple syrup
1/4 cup full-fat coconut milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground ancho chili powder (optional, for a subtle kick)
Pinch of salt
Optional Garnishes:
Whipped coconut cream
Fresh raspberries
Toasted pepitas
Chocolate shavings
Instructions:
1. Melt the Chocolate:
In a small saucepan, melt the raw chocolate with coconut milk over low heat, stirring frequently until smooth. Set aside to cool slightly.
2. Blend the Creamy Base:
Add the avocados, cocoa powder, honey, vanilla extract, cinnamon, ancho chili powder (if using), and salt to a blender or food processor. Blend until completely smooth and creamy, scraping down the sides as needed.
3. Combine and Chill:
Slowly pour the cooled chocolate mixture into the avocado mixture while blending on low speed. Once fully combined, pour the mousse into serving glasses or ramekins (you can also alternatively layer avocado mixture and chocolate mixture, to create contrast). Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or up to overnight.
4. Garnish and Enjoy:
When ready to serve, top the mousse with your desired garnishes. Enjoy the unique and decadent combination of Mexican chocolate and avocado!
Additional Tips:
For a richer mousse, use dark chocolate with a higher cocoa percentage (70% or higher).
If you don't have Mexican vanilla, regular vanilla extract will work fine.
Adjust the amount of honey or maple syrup to your desired sweetness.
This mousse is best enjoyed chilled, but you can let it sit at room temperature for a few minutes before serving for a slightly softer texture.
