Mediterranean Hummus with Dukkah: A Textural & Flavorful Twist

Captivate your taste buds with this flavorful fusion of classic hummus and nutty, aromatic dukkah. This easy Mediterranean dip is perfect for sharing with friends, adding a touch of elegance to any gathering.

Ingredients:

1 (15-oz) can chickpeas, drained and rinsed

1/3 cup tahini (sesame seed paste)

2 cloves garlic, peeled

1/4 cup fresh lemon juice

2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

1/2 teaspoon ground cumin

1/4 teaspoon sea salt

Black pepper to taste

Dukkah, for garnish

Pitta bread, crudités (cucumber, carrot sticks, etc.), or crackers, for serving

Instructions:

In a food processor, combine the drained chickpeas, tahini, garlic cloves, lemon juice, olive oil, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Process until smooth and creamy, scraping down the sides as needed.

Taste the hummus and adjust seasonings as desired. You may add a bit more lemon juice for tang, olive oil for richness, or salt for balance.

Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl. Drizzle the hummus with a generous amount of olive oil and sprinkle generously with dukkah.

Serve with pita bread, sliced vegetables (crudités), or crackers for dipping.

Tips:

For an extra-smooth hummus, remove the chickpea skins. After rinsing the drained chickpeas, gently rub them between your fingers to loosen the skins. Slip the chickpeas off their skins and discard the skins.

Make it Your Own: Feel free to adjust the spices in the hummus to your taste. A pinch of cayenne pepper adds a touch of heat, or smoked paprika adds a smoky depth.

Dukkah Variations: Dukkah can be found pre-made at most grocery stores, or you can easily make your own with a combination of toasted nuts, sesame seeds, and spices.

Enjoy this delicious and visually stunning Mediterranean Hummus with Dukkah!
