Wonton Revolution: Spicy Goat Cheese and Herb Wontons in Broth

These wontons are not your average! We're taking the classic wonton soup and turning it up a notch with a spicy goat cheese and herb filling. Creamy goat cheese gets a flavor boost from fresh mint and chives, while a touch of chili crisp adds a delightful kick. Poached in a flavorful chicken broth, these wontons are a guaranteed crowd-pleaser, perfect for both appetizers and light meals.

Ingredients:

Wonton wrappers (36)

4 oz goat cheese, crumbled

1/4 cup chopped fresh mint

2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives

1 tablespoon chili crisp (adjust to your spice preference)

1 tablespoon olive oil

8 cups chicken broth

Black sesame oil, for drizzling

Additional fresh herbs, for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

In a medium bowl, combine crumbled goat cheese, chopped mint, chives, and chili crisp. Stir well to combine.

Lay a wonton wrapper flat on a lightly floured surface. Place a small spoonful of the filling in the center. Brush the edges of the wrapper with water. Fold the wrapper diagonally to form a triangle. Press the edges firmly to seal. Repeat with remaining wrappers and filling.

In a large pot, bring chicken broth to a simmer over medium heat. Carefully add wontons and cook for 3-4 minutes, or until they float to the surface.

Divide wontons among serving bowls. Drizzle with black sesame oil and garnish with additional fresh herbs, if desired.

Tips:

For a richer flavor, brown the butter before adding the wontons to the broth.

If you don't have chili crisp, you can substitute with a pinch of red pepper flakes for a milder heat.

For a vegetarian option, use vegetable broth instead of chicken broth.
