Ingredients:

For the Phyllo Shards:

1 package phyllo dough, thawed (about 1 pound)

1/2 cup melted butter

For the Nut Filling:

1 cup chopped walnuts

1/2 cup chopped pistachios

1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

For the Rose Water Syrup:

1 cup water

1 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup rose water

1 tablespoon lemon juice

For the Rose Water Whipped Cream:

1 cup heavy whipping cream

2 tablespoons powdered sugar

1 teaspoon rose water

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Unfold the phyllo dough and brush lightly with melted butter. Carefully fold the dough in half lengthwise. Brush the top layer with butter again. Cut the dough into 1-inch wide strips, then cut the strips diagonally into bite-sized pieces.

Arrange the phyllo pieces in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the tops with remaining butter. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. Let cool completely.

In a small bowl, combine chopped walnuts, pistachios, and ground cinnamon. Set aside.

In a saucepan, combine water, sugar, rose water, and lemon juice. Bring to a boil over medium heat, then reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Let cool slightly.

In a chilled bowl, whip the heavy cream with an electric mixer on high speed until stiff peaks form. Gradually add powdered sugar and rose water, continuing to whip until combined.

In a serving dish or individual bowls, layer the cooled phyllo shards, nut filling, and a drizzle of rose water syrup. Top with a dollop of rose water whipped cream. Enjoy!

Tips:

For a richer flavor, brush the phyllo dough with melted butter mixed with a tablespoon of honey.

Toast the nuts in a dry skillet for a few minutes to enhance their flavor.

Adjust the amount of rose water in the syrup and whipped cream to your preference.

Enjoy this delightful deconstruction of the classic baklava! It's a perfect dessert for any occasion, offering a unique and modern twist on a beloved Middle Eastern treat.
